I know this car very well. It was once known as Mister Black when it was painted black and raced in the Minneapolis area. Doug Miller was the one who painted it black and raced it. The car found it's way to Miami and was owned by a close friend of mine who passed this Feb. He offered me the car years ago but I didn't have the desire to own it. He sold it to Hugh Mitchell who is the current owner and offering it for sale. I got a good handle on most of the history of the surviving 66 W-30 cars. The current color is the original color when built. It's white with a blue painted top.

Who would want that car - bench seat, battery located in the wrong place, no OAI hood
That is one nice looking car. Problem is if I could buy it, I'd be driving it like it was back on the drag strip.

I love the 66 W30's but the bench seat and white with blue top definitely does not do it for me. Dang...that thing looks too much like grandma's car. Should a kept it black and give it buckets. And those wheels...yuck.

If you don't like the color combo or the car, fine but it's a Club Coupe and buckets were not an option. As with any rare car,the correct color combo is almost a requirement. The weird colors were the thing back in the period, greens were really big then. The steel wheels and puppy dog caps really are what belongs on the car. If you don't get the bare bones racy look,go bowling after midnight.

These cars were never something I was fond of till the past 4 or 5 years. They have really grown on me. Maybe someday...

yeah, it amazes me how my taste change. I still favor the 70 - 72s and always liked the 65s the next best, with 66s right there. The W30 66 though has always been a favorite but I realized long ago it would most likely never be in the cards. Now I like the 68 convertibles a lot and am digging the 73-77s.

Well, I guess I may have a start then to own one since I do have the air cleaner as well as NOS Tubing... As you said, Maybe someday...

Hell, the 67 air cleaner was expensive enough for me, those two extra holes for the 66 cost a lot more.
That thing is awesome. I'll disagree with my esteemed colleague Dave and say that I DID see a tachometer in there for an option. It's like they took a base F85 stripper and fed it nothing but Wheaties for a while.

The 66 W30 was a continuation of the stripped-down race cars of the early 60's. The club coupe was the lightest and stiffest body. The front bench seat is lighter than buckets or the bench with fold down armrest. The car was all about performance, not appearance to impress people in the parking lot. Come to the NTOC Zone show in two weeks and I can give you a tour of the re-created Rund race car from 1966.
