1970 SX W32 Convertible. Numbers matching 455 Turbo 400 OG. Motor has received a complete rebuild along with the transmission. Documented! Triple black. Stripped to bare metal and repainted. Retains all it's original metal. Hasn't been driven in a winter for at least 38 years.
Numbers and figures show maybe 30 or less ever made. These figures do not reflect any color combinations. Maybe one of one in triple black? The car has been in the family for about 35 years and during that time I have found and have heard of only one other in existence and that was over in Europe.
Loaded with options:
AC, Tilt wheel, cruise control, PS, PB, P Trunk release, PW, PD locks, P Seat back, P Top, Hood lock, AM/FM stereo (converted), 8 Track Tape player.

Milwaukee Masterpiece Concourse D'Elegance red ribbon winner.
Scored high 900's at Olds. Nationals.
Featured on the "Hurst Olds" poster with the W machines.
Used for filming by the "Harry Potter" twins, Ollie & James Phelps.

Back when Brad Bishop was selling these, I think they were in the $15-20 range. I don't know if he still has them.... A very busy guy.

The W-25 had to have been added at the dealership or installed by a previous owner since no SX left the factory with W-25.

Does the '70 W-32 have an internal or externally regulated alternator?

External. This W-32 was in the Nationals in Des Moines, IA and had a voltage regulator on the firewall.

I would had bet that the W-32 with it's 442 drivetrain would have had an internal alternator from the factory, not an external regulated alternator. I guess when Oldsmobile said ONLY the 442 would have an internal alternator, they meant it.

I'm thinking $25-$30 on going price. I had a hard time selling my 70 SX as nice as yours but was a H/T Supreme for $20K. YES my SX had a wrong master and over flow tank that's why the wiper tank on driver side.

No rust or bondo and 70 fenders and never in a wreck. It was that nice and in Reno Nats it got 904 points just didn't stand a chance at beating the resto 442 W-30 cars I went up against. I still think the black SX W-32 at auction should get $40K

It's been fun getting all the opinions and I hope all those saying 20-40K are wrong! However, they are your opinions and i did ask for them!
I sold another 70 SX Conv. for $25k about 13 yrs. ago and it wasn't as nice, wasn't a W32. I would hope condition, rarity, and time would have driven up prices! I know I would never trade it for a 442 in same or better condition! Not that I don't want to own a 442, but rarity has much more value to me! It will be an opportunity for someone to own a car that is extremely rare and will continue to increase in value! Almost 35 yrs. and I've never seen another. It is a car for someone who wants something not everyone has.

Does Mecum offer a reserve? If so, I would advise it. Cheap insurance

Good luck with the sale. I predict that it will top out at $42000 but I hope that I am wrong and you get a million. If your are so confident that rare = desirable then sell it no reserve. Good luck.

Yes, I just recently been made aware of Lee's car and have talked to him. If I remember right, he said his doesn't have numbers matching motor. I would love to see his car though! It still has taken me almost 35 yrs to find another. I've always knew I didn't own the only one that existed.

If I recall correctly Lee's car sold new in Saskatchewan and has GM of Canada documents.

Mecum does offer a reserve. I have seen their auctions on TV where Dana Mecum will get in a sellers face and just brow beat them to remove the reserve. That would really **** me off.

To date, I can not locate any breakdown info for a 70 W32 SX Vert. I asked this specific question back in 1993 when I was looking at the Coupe. I have GM Heretage Center correspondence from the late Helen Early and she didn't know the W32 SX vert break down either. Has anything surfaced yet for 70 or 71?
