SOLD 1970 Cutlass S W-31 Tribute For Sale in Arizona

SOLD
I have a 1970 Olds Cutlass W-31 Tribute for sale in Arizona. The price reduced to $15,750.00 USD OBO. I do not have the ability to ship the vehicle.

Over $30k invested. Make me an offer!

This car is in good shape with a non numbers matching W-31 engine mated to an M-22 Hurst 4 Speed. It has the limited slip 3.91 rear end. I do not have any documentation. It is an AC car with power brakes. It has the correct oversize sway bars, fuel lines run inside the frame on the passenger side, has the factory boxed control arms and the "Trash Can" light weight trunk lid. Suspension, Transmission/Clutch and engine bay have all been gone through. Many new parts. Selling for less than I have in it.

It has been my wife's car but it just does not get driven much. Good looker and driver.

As you know a/c not available on the W-31,

Can you explain the light weight trunk? Do you mean trunk lid? I own a W-31 car and the trunk lid is the same as any other 70 trunk lid I have seen.

It says "Tribute" car, it can have any option on it the present owner wants it to have - AC. though I don't know what "trash can" deck lid means iether. But its a nice looking car, GLWS

I was curious about the "trash can" too....found this on 442.com....I think it's what the seller is talking about?
One of the ways that you can help 'identify' a W-31 is that they used a lot less sound deadening material to save some weight. Close the trunk lid. If it sounds nice and solid and tight, that isn't a good sign. But it MAY have been replaced, so this is not a guarantee. If it sounds hollow, like you're clanging an empty steel trash can, then this will signify a W-trunk lid. Also, the firewall pad, if it is original, is very thin compared to non-Ws.

The trunk lid is the same. The lack of sound insulation in an original car results in a different sound when the trunk lid closes. 45 years and many owners later carpet may have been changed and underlay and sound insulation addded. Similarly a plain Cutlass may have had all the sound deadening material removed. This is a highly unreliable way of discerning a W-31 from a nonW car. The fact that this tribute car has a "trash can" trunk lid proves my point.

GLWS of the car.

I make no claims that this is a true W-31, just stating what is on the car. What does GLWS mean Dave?

Agreed. The deck lid on my car has a bunch of rust prevention stuff sprayed in. I think this was a common thing done with cars in rust prone areas.

the info 442.com has been known for a long time to contain inaccurate information. And the new owners are not interested in correcting it. This is one of those instances. There is no W-car specific trunklid period. There is no "special" sound either. I've closed the trunklid on my W-31 and a regular S and an F-85 that I have, same sound for all three. The cars haven't been messed with (as far as interior at least) either.

100% agreed as I posted & thanks for confirming. More 442.com urban myths.

So is it a tribute or a believed to be W31 with no documentation? Either way I may be interested if my other deal doesn't work out.

Sorry it took so long to respond. I can only say it is a tribute because it has the AC and Factory power brakes. Did find out this week when having the carb redone that the carb is a 7040255 date code 3089.

[QUOTE=cholds;1016797]Not an AZ car, its from Iowa

Negative comments from someone who wanted the car at a giveaway price. Not nice to post negative untruths having never seen the car. It's 47 years old and will have had some body work done to it. I never claimed the car was from Arizona

Anyway, car is Sold
