1972 442 w30 real barn find
I just found this in a Barn in New York, it has the X in the vin, has the right carb. Heads and intake, It had been sitting in this barn for over 25 years, all original paint except where it had a little accident and the drivers front fender and hood had been replaced. it is dark green with white interior and white stripes. have a lot of paperwork to go with the car including the protecto plate and half the build sheet found under the rear seat, all the books and some other miscellaneous papers. the bad is that it has a replacement block in it, but trans is correct, and all bolt on parts were switched to the replacement block. the frame is in great shape with a little surface rust, the car will need quarters, the floors look good from underneath. the car has power steering, power disc brakes, tilt steering, rally pack, seat belt buzzer, electric trunk release, AM\FM with 8 track played and rear spoiler. the Mileage is correct to the car 42457.5. the guy I got the car from has owned it since 1979. the car is located in Ohio

For some reason that IDK, the 1972 W-30 which has ironclad documentation without a piece of paper as to its pedigree is curiously the least valuable of all W-30s.
It's a nice color combo as to the price gotta start somewhere

Jumping title maybe? I see it more than not with these old cars. I picked up a car a couple years ago that went through 4 hands and not titled. It is not legal but done all the time. Generally it is only done on a $2000 or less car. I would not take a jumped title for this much

NYS has transferable registration only for 1972 and earlier. That means there isn't any title. It's fairly easy to register a car that old with some "creative" paperwork in NY but I know Ohio is much stricter.

I have transfered the title to Ohio, but took pics of the old title before hand, the price is negotiable and I had to start some where. If it does not sell it will get restored, just has a few cars ahead of it

I know 72 and earlier vehicles did not have titles as proof of ownership... I have transferred many in the past, but I did have a paper trail which help with NY DMV... My real question I guess, should have been is there any actual NY documentation linking the vehicle to NY, such as an old registration, which would make the process a lot easier for a possible NY buyer... NY does have special forms for transferring 72 and older vehicles which does help the process...

A pole barn find to be exact. The 442 was stored just outside of Erie PA. Second owner of the car said the '70 hood on the car due to past mishap and unable to find a 71/72 hood back then. Was not sure who installed the spoiler since not available from the factory that year. Will be a sharp car when restored. Wish I had the funds available when the second owner originally decided to sell the car many years ago. Reminds me of the '72 W30 tested by CARS magazine in New Jersey after Hurricane Agnes, with photos of the 442 plowing through flooded roadways.
