Restoring plastic inner guards
I've been detailing all the usual under the hood, firewall, brake booster, air cleaner, brackets, hoses etc, and am looking for a solution to restore the finish to the plastic inner guards.
Everything i've tried leaves a dull or patchy finish. I'm not after a concourse result, just a consistent finish.
I've tried; Plexus (plastic cleaner & polish), kitchen cleaner(spray & wipe), Armourall, turps, metho, soapy water and tire shine.
My last resort is to mask it all up and use satin black spray paint. (not ideal)
Any ideas? Thanks.

I found lots of threads on cleaning and restoring engine bay plastics, this is probably one of the best;

I really didn't want to paint with SEM or a plastic/vinyl restorer.
Ended up persevering with the same stuff I use on my race bike, PLEXUS plastic protectant, cleaner and polish, made in the US.

Seems to work great, stripped the crud right off and left the original colour. I had to get a little aggressive where the A/C clutch sprayed grease/oil in a line next to the compressor for the last 40 yrs and there are a few abrasions where pipes have been rubbing, but I will leave it as is. Very pleased with the result.
I've used it on all the under hood plastic and external body plastic.
