Black Trim: Brilliant or sacrilege?
I haven't posted a whole lot about my build, so it'll be interesting to see the reactions when it's done. It's certainly a build-what-you-want deal.
Anyway, just got the first batch of trim back from the powder coater and I'm pretty jazzed. Low-gloss black. This will be paired with (most likely) the '15 Corvette Blue ("Blue My Mind", nyuk nyuk). For some reason my painter's mix of PPG 2213 came out very aqua-green.

'72 Supreme. I call it a mod-resto because there's more modifications than restoration.
403, 200-4r, 3.73 posi, eventually 18" wheels, hydroboost brakes, eventually C5 brake hardware, SPC suspension stuff up front w/ tall ball joints, tubular arms and johnny joints in back, chassis kit from HPI, custom in-tank fuel pump (I wish the phantom stuff had come out a few years earlier!), about half of the trim and most of the badges removed, custom gauges that look like rally pac, all custom wiring. Not sure on seats yet, probably Scat's Rally XL. Aftermarket stereo and modern style noise suppression. Etc, etc. I like to think of it as a modern rendition of the car.
Car was bought by my dad in '73, we did a light resto in the 90's. I started tearing it back apart in '10 to atone for my earlier sins.
So far I've only doubled the budget and tripled the schedule.

I used Plasti-Dip to black out the rear window trim on my Cutlass. With the black vinyl top and tinted windows I didn't like how it changed from black roof, to bright work, to black tinted window, to bright work, to black vinyl on leading edge of the trunk lid, to bright work to white paint.
I feel it looks more uniform with the black rear window trim. I'll probably leave the rest as is.
