Hello, My 75 is the 1st car I've owned with a vinyl roof That I plan on taking care of,keeping..
I've had others That where more or less beaters.. and that is being kind..


This vehicle I plan on keeping and caring for, but have no clue on how to care for the vinyl roof.. That is in very good shape..
The side window chrome trim(plastic) is aged, and I may replace it down the line.. but
1 What do you use on a 40 year old top,?
2how keep it clean, softly rub, or scrub with some force behind it..?
3 Do you use anything to keep it water proof?

How dingy is your vinyl and what color. I had a landau back in high school, white that was ugly. A little westleys white wall cleaner and some scrubbing and with a coat of armor all and it was like new!

I have a black one on my 70 and soap and water with an occasional vinyl dressing it looks better with the dressing.

There will be some others stating that marine grade vinyl protectant will work wonders. I may have to get some!

I use the 3D Liquid Leather on the interior of my Olds and on my boots. It works great!

After a good clean with soap, water and a soft brush I use Duragloss 301.

If top is real dry a couple coats over a few days does wonders.

Jesse, that stuff is amazingly expensive. Too rich for me. I'm glad it works well for your needs though.

Allan, I bought it because it was so much cheaper than other options. It is a gallon container. LoL

I used 3m marine vinyl cleaner in my interior, it has a uv protector in it and a mildew preventative. I was happy w how it cleaned and how it looked after.

I think it would work well for your vinyl top

The problem with Armour All is that when it rains it will rinse off all over your paint and then turns brownish on the roof. If your top is in really good shape, I use Marine 303, it doesn't leave a greasy film that attracts dust.

This is 100% true.

I cleaned my 71 98 before deploying to Afghanistan in 2012. When I returned for leave in 2013 there was a brown film all over the tires due to using Armor All on them. That stuff was impossible to scrub off!

Zep citrus degreaser makes short work of cleaning this tires of the armorall film.

Anything that I know about that leaves a high film build will in time deteriorate under UV and become blotchy or began to flake and delaminate . What I have see in the past(maybe there are new products out I don't know about now) only penetrating films continued to look good after a hot summer.... Tedd

Not only that, there will be a film on the windshield that will be impossible to see through if you're ever out in the rain. The wipers will just smear it around. When I was a teen, I did that to a few relative's cars, not knowing what would happen, and they all wanted to kill me!
