convertible front windshield top covering

You know the convertible front windshield top covering that's made of vinyl. The material that comes into contact between the convertible top and top of windshield.........well mine is starting to have the vinyl come out around the edges. Heck I might even want to replace the vinyl there. Any tips or "gotchyas" in taking it out??
Thanks

I replaced mine when I had the windshield replaced. It came off pretty easy, after 40+ years of sun, the glue was basically dust.
Just be sure that the surface is very clean and smooth before placing the new one.
I tried using 3M spray adhesive, but that didn't hold. I ended up using contact cement.
I also didn't make the final trimming cuts until after the cement had cured.

If you don't have any of that vinyl I have pieces of it I sell that are generously cut (so you don't have to try to "curve" the vinyl as it runs across the top of the frame - side-to-side).

Only have it in black.

One thing to make sure of is to get plenty of adhesive on BOTH SURFACES...the top of the w/shield frame AND the backside of the vinyl.
The vinyl has a woven/cloth-like backing and that soaks up a lot of adhesive so use at least two good coats on the backside of the vinyl.

Lay it out, mark the centers, align the vinyl on the w/shield frame and do one half of the vinyl strip at a time (fold the vinyl over on top of itself and pull/roll it out into place).
