The brake pedal on my wife's 78 Delta 88 Royal has gone to the floor. I checked the master cylinder and it was low - do I fill both sides or just the front? Filled the front and pumped the brakes, still goes to floor so I'll attempt to bleed them this afternoon. Does anyone know what size wrench I need to use on the bleeder valves? Any other things I should check that may cause this:

Check aroung each wheel and look for fluid on the ground, maybe a blown wheel cylinder or seal went bad in the master cylinder, or blew a rubber hose at one of the wheels or the hose from the hard line to the rearend, Something caused this problem. Fix that firs then we can talk about bleeding.

Thanks, exactly what a friend suggested especially since there is rust in the master cylinder. He suggested to first purge the system then go from there.

IF there is rust in the master cylinder I would do a complete overhaul. You might even want to replace the lines. Make sure you check the condition of your wheel cylinders.

Thanks, thats the plan. Just have to wait for it to get below 105 outside before I start on this, mid 90's would work just fine.

Chris, I know what you mean. I really wanted to work on the Olds this afternoon but the 100+ degree weather has forced me inside.
