Brakes block when breaking

Hi guys,

following issue: When I start my 66´F85 and going to drive the first 3-5 times
I use the breakes, even very smooth the will block (full breaking). After that they will work fine. Any idea what that could be?

66´f85, 330cui, all drum breakes, new break booster

Thank you, Daniel

If they are locking up temporarily and the issue clears up shortly after driving, it could possibly be corrosion on the drums if the vehicle has been sitting for a long period of time... Other issues could be the return springs, or even a wheel cylinder not retracting as it should...

Yes i mean they lock up. The vehicle did not sit for a long period of time. Could it be to much vacuum during the fast idle? Otherwise I will check or buy new wheel cylinder.

thx

Before you spend any money check the brakes are properly adjusted. Grabbing brakes are often a symptom of too much shoe travel.

Brakes usually lock up if the wheel cylinders are leaking. Are all 4 doing it or just 1?

I've had the same symptom with leaky axle seals on the rear too. I suppose bad bearing seals on the front could also cause this. Lube on the brake shoes is NOT helpful for smooth stops.
