Hood Gap

1971 Cutlass Supreme: Can anyone tell me how much gap there should be between the center of the hood in the front and the stone shield between the grilles? I didn't notice the gap before I took it apart for painting and when installed back on it has almost 3/4 of an inch of gap, the top of the fenders line up and the grilles/ core support seemed to fit fine. Maybe this is normal? dhoff

I know this is an old post but have the same problem and question. What is the best solution to fixing this gap?

Thanks Allan R. I actually was able to decrease my gap to something that is acceptable to me just by adjusting the hood bumper stops.
