What is the inside of the trunk suppose to look like?

So another question here.

EDIT: This is for my 72' Cutlass Supreme Holiday.

I'm wondering what pieces I'm missing for the trunk, my bottom fenders beside the trunk is rusted out so I will be replacing that along with the outer and part of the inner wheel house. It looks like those all close up at the bottom of the fender.

But I'm wondering what piece fills in the trunk on the right and left side corners? The trunk pan just stops as circled.

Thanks in advance!

If I remember correctly, nothing fills that void... The quarter panel wraps down and back up to the trunk floor... It's a area where dirt and other junk collect when left on the trunk floor...

X2 with Cruzn, my 72 has had no body work, and looks much like yours.....btw those "wells" become the "black hole" for everything you can't find when you come home from the grocery store

And where I stuff an antifreeze jug of water for emergencies, and a scissor jack so it doesn't slide around, and just about anything else that will kinda-sorta fit in there. Most stuff is jammed in the well and leaned forward so it's held in place between the fender and that big lip on the wheel house.

On the A-bodies, that space is a perfect place to keep your spare fan belts, distributor cap, rotor, points, condenser, and other items noted above, plus a bunch of tools you may never see again (sledgehammer, breaker bar, ratchet, spare sockets, etc...) and still have the "normal" amount of trunk space you had before.

Actually, that piece is called a Compartment Pan Filler. It is a vertical piece that connects the trunk floor with the bottom of the quarter panel...goes from tail light to wheel well. PN 9816631 & 9815057 '70-'72 all exc.wagons...try that.

Looks normal. Some have drain holes in the bottom make sure they are open. It's a good place to keep your gas money. Mine usted to be for spare tools and toilet paper just for when nature calls. One must be ready for the call.

Or the multi task obliques role of paper towels. Don't get caught without them.... Tedd
