1971 cutlass supreme

Just wondering if this vehicle is worth the restoration ? It's a original Hawaii car. The sea erosion has taken a toll on it over the years. Thanks for any advice!

For $25K you can end up with a $7K car.

Wow....I am from Chicago and I have never seen anything even close to that rotten.

If it were me I would strip it down and part it out. If the body is that bad the frame can't be very good. It would cost WAY more than that car is worth to fix it.
The engine, trans and rear end should get you something along with the console, shifter (with the cable and trans brackets and shift arm on the trans), speedometer (because it's for a floor shift....no gear indicator on it), wheels, the steering column and steering wheel. The seats need work but you could still get something for them. If it has front disc brakes that would be worth taking as well.
To me the rest of the car is a wash and should be junked. There might be some other good parts, but nothing that looks to be worth all that much. Some of the interior part could be salvageable, but that would be up to you to decide.
It's surely not worth trying to sell the car as a whole because it's just not worth it as it sits.

And I thought the underside of my 72 was rusty...
I might be interested in the dual sport mirrors (if they are not rusted).

In the MIL-SPEC world, that's called "salt spray". You should see what happens to the steel launch pad structures at Canaveral and Vandenberg.

The underlying phenomenon is still corrosion. Caused by water. Caused by salt and water. It's still corrosion.

That car is a few washes away from going down the drain. As the others said, the power train and interior can be moved to another car.

Aloha! Too bad about the supreme I would agree with the others, it's too far gone and I am from Michigan where the tin worm is more like an anaconda!

I noticed your handle the 808 (area code) for Hawaii and 702? maybe the start of a cell number?

I will be on your neighboring island of Maui in July.

Pat

Stripping the valuable parts off of this car would also be a challenge. Steel fasteners corroded into the plastic console is just one example. I'm sure the shifter is going to have some extensive corrosion as well.
