olds in germany needs help with unnamed cover
Hello Forum, at first: sorry for my bad english!
I`m restoring a `71 Cutlass Supreme in North Germany. Next week he will get his paintjob. Now I have a problem: You can see the part at the pics. What kind of seal or cover must be placed on it. I think water will invade into body whithout any cover where the red line is on the pic. My hand is the window and the blue range is the original rubberseal.
At the most Cutlass Pics this part is painted, thats why I`m asking you: Should a part covered?

OK, there is a rubber seal that goes into where your hand is. There should also be a stainless steel strip that attaches where the green line is. That has a wide rubber seal glued into it. I don't have a 70-72 supreme right now, but the Cutlass S of that vintage used a similar setup. If someone else doesn't come up with pictures first I'll snap some and post them for you.

Here's the piece I think you are missing. The first few photos are of a 1969 with the piece installed. Then pictures of pieces I removed from a 1972 Cutlass S. Yours will be a different shape due to the back window, but I still think yours should have this stainless steel channel for the window seal to fit into. Let us know if this answers your questions or not. If your missing this channel I'd encourage you to post a parts wanted thread to see if someone here has extras they would sell. John

Here's a side view and the stainless trim you'd see once installed.

Here's the inside of the channel where the window seal fits in

Here's the top of the trim where it fits against the roof of the car. This fits against where your green line is drawn.

The part of your car that you're pointing to is the rear edge of the rear window, yes? That part isn't covered by the parts 2blu442 posted pictures of - that part only fits up and forward in the door and window 'hole'.
There is a rubber weatherstrip (possibly with a steel core, I don't remember offhand) that fits in that particular place, i.e. the outside rear edge of the quarter window.
I'm in Southern Denmark and have the parts 2blu442 posted if you need those as well. I'm not sure I have the weatherstrip parts you asked for originally, and if I DO, I'm not sure they're worth putting back into your car.
