Font fender on my 1969 Cutlass S bent

Hello everyone,

Here's my first real question When I bought the car a month ago we noticed that the front fender was pushed in a bit which in turn made the outer portion of the fender stick out on the drivers side about 1.5 inches off centre. I've asked a couple of people if they saw anything wrong and no one really noticed until I mentioned it BUT now that I know I want to fix it.

Any ideas from people in the Newmarket, Ontario area or in general how much something like this would cost to be fixed by a competent body man. Thanx everyone...love the site

Your best bet would be to post pictures of what you are describing. Someone may be able to give you an idea of a repair cost once they see the damage.

Front Fender on 1969 Cutlass S slightly bent

Ok here are the pictures that might help. The best I could do given the reflection..the problem area is circled in red showing the resulting slight misalignment on the drivers side. Not that bad but I just want an idea on cost for budgeting reasons. Thank you

It appears that the front BUMPER is bent. The most straightforward method of repair would be replacement. The bumper is a relatively easy part to replace requiring only handtools and some elbow grease. A good idea is to soak the bolts with penetrating fluid before removal. I've always found that removing the entire unit (brackets, lights, etc.) from the frame and then disassembling it off of the car and re-assembling in reverse order to be much easier. The job will go a whole lot smoother with at least one helper.

My guess it was towed early in it's life with a sling tow truck. Mine was and the bumper is bent from it. Will get it fixed at some point in my resto.
