Unhappy alignment

Thank everyone for the birthday wishes. I am having a problem with aligning my hood up to the fenders. i took the fenders and core support of so I could paint them. In putting it back together I first aligned the fenders with the doors which were not taken off. Then I put the hood on. I thought it pretty well don when I saw the stone shield and grilles and all that frnt stuff was hanging out towards the front of the car about almost a 1/2 inch. I sure would appreciate (ANY) help. Thank you JIM

Post some pictures of the problem areas, so we can get an idea of what you have. If your front clip is not straight, you'll play hell in lining the hood.

Get the rad support square first before you do anything. What year of car are you rebuilding? Sounds like 71 or 72 by the description of the stone shield.

It is a 1972 Cutlass Supreme. It seems like the core support is to far ahead. But if I move the core support back it will not let the doors to open without hitting the fenders. Thanks JIM

Dont' re use the core support bushings, get new ones. Leave all the front end sheet metal bolts a loose, line up the fenders to the doors, I use paint sticks to to have even gaps between sheet metal panels. Tighten the fender bolts closest to the doors. Remove the hood latch and spring. Line up the hood, fenders & core support and tighten everything.
