Body Shops in Houston
If anybody out there knows of any reputable body shops in Houston capable of helping restore a 1969 442 Hardtop I would appreciate the feedback. Really looking for someone that can handle some metalwork (typical quarter panel and fender spots) and a solid accurate paintwork.
Thanks
Sean

Gary,
I went and saw Jeff at Classic Cars of Houston and the place was pretty impressive. He actually had a 69 442 in the process of getting a body off resto. While his estimate was a little high (~$15k for body and paint), the work seems pretty much hard to beat. I may have to work on other aspects of the car before handing it over due to funds. Have you had anything done there?
Thanks
Sean

Those guys do have a very nice shop and they do very good work on their restorations. I did all my work myself of my car. I was going to let them paint it after I had done all the body work, I did a frame off in my garage, so I then decided to paint it also. But had I not done it myself they were going to be my choice.

I have been looking around Houston for a reputable but, reasonable body shop and most established shops are estimating between $12k-25k for paint and body. Pretty steep. I came across this guy on CL that after talking with him seems to be pretty decent. I will have to go see his shop and work before handing over my car but he told me he could do paint and body (triple base and triple clear) using PPG materials for $4500-5000.

I know some will say you get what you pay for but, if the guy doesnt have the overhead of a big shop and has a good portfolio of past work, it may be worth it. The guys name is Bryant (281)840-9333
