Hi all my 68 442 will be needing some dash/cowl rust repair right below the windshield. I can see that the metal has bubbled up all the way across the bottom of the windshield. I know more than likely a large section of metal will need to be cut out & replaced. Questions are... What is the quality of the new aftermarket pieces? Who makes good ones? I've read that some of the new aftermarket cowl replacements don't usually cover most of the dash.. Is this true? If I am better off finding a solid donor which years & makes would be a perfect fit? sorry to upset the olds purists but living in SoCal I run across a quite few 68-72 A-body part outs from time to time.

You should post a picture. Bubbling can be fixed but you're correct, it usually ends up being a long hole once you pull the windshield. The dash is specific to 68-69 olds. Chevelle, GTO, or GS aren't the same. There's isn't a patch panel available for the Olds.

You will need a donor car to fix , or you can fab a piece of metal in there

thanks guys. i'll post a pic of the dash & post pics of my progress... got a lot of rust repairs... so there will be a lot of progress to be had.

I'm in the same boat with the dash . My rust goes all the way across the dash , and the rear window along with the roof .
