1972 Cutlass Supreme Hood Grilles?

Hello,

I was wondering if there was an OEM hood-vent grille that was an option for the style-vents on my 1972 Supreme? Something like the 442's had from factory? I really like the look of them, but not sure if this is even an option? I cannot seem to find anything online :/

I'm referencing the mesh chrome grille inserts like on this 442 hood:

You can find that style hood easily enough, just post a parts wanted ad. All 71/72 hoods swap, so pick whichever style you want - smooth, rear louvers, side louvers, scoops.

I think I wasn't clear, my bad on that:

I want to keep my current hood, but was wondering if anyone made any hood mesh-style vents that I can pop on top of the OEM vents on my current hood (like OEM 442 hoods have)?

The 72 W29 hood is different only from the regular Cutlass S hood in the front piercing for the script that says OLDSMOBILE. If you're talking about the faux hood louvers - no. You can't just pop something on the hood. Those louvers have a special cutout in the ridge of the hood and are bolted on from below.

If on the other hand you're talking about the vents at the back of the hood close to the cowl - no. There never was a pop on screen for that either. That's what the large one piece metal screen underneath is for.

Short answer: No

Longer answer: the 1969-70 hoods that did come with those vents at the base of the windshield had a stamped recess that the die cast parts fit into. There is no such thing as a "vent cover" that simply snaps over the stock vents.

I was hoping that wasn't the case, but thanks all for the clarification! Bummer.

There's actually nothing wrong with keeping your hood exactly as it is. That's the way it left the factory.

It's all personal preference. But yes, it's not that big of a deal to me - I just really liked the hood louvers and if there was a pair made I was thinking about it!

Thanks for everyones help.
