roof rail weatherstripping 1961 hardtop?
Bought the roof rail weatherstripping from Metro Rubber. 1961 2 door hardtop Super 88. The rubber is long enough to go from the vent window along the roof to the top of the quarter panel, in short, the entire roof line. BUT! The stainless trim that goes above the quarter window, on the roof, has a piece joining inside and outside stainless, and now has what some call "whiskers", like on the door panels, that the glass slides into. So, the rail rubber will not go in a continuous line from front to back.
So, is this the way to leave it? Only use half the rail weatherstrip? Just above the door glass? Or remove the 'whiskers' and glue in the rail rubber? Should I cut out the piece separating the door and quarter glass, so as to have a continuous run of rubber in the upper trim? I just can't believe they would supply such a long piece of rubber, and it is not used on there cars!
