gm 3960314 bolt idenitification
I am replacing these bolts on a 1970 442 and am curious if anyone knows exactly what the head looks like on a 3960314 bolt. Foe example plain vs three lines vs lightning bolt also what was the actual length of these. I would appreciate any info that is available

From the AMK catalog: 3960314 is a 5/16-18 body bolt, 13/16 long with a 1/2" bolt head and its maximum width on the bolt head is .65". The body bolts in the catalog (and on my '68 and '69 of this description) mostly have a circle with a symbol that kind of looks like a lower case "f" in the middle. These bolts are finished in phosphate and oil (gray-black).
You can order these bolts through AMK. Their part number is B-12500 (12 bolts in a bag for $6) or B-12501 (50 bolts in a bag for $20).
Check with AMK before you order, though (www.amkproducts.com, 540-662-7820, 800 Airport Road, Winchester, VA 22602). They have a minimum order of around $40, plus there is shipping of around another $10 or so.
Their catalog is pretty good for identifying all kinds of fasteners. They have a cross-reference to GM part numbers in the back of their catalog (along with GM & Chrysler as well). They don't list all the GM part numbers in the assembly manuals but, if you have a sample bolt or screw, you can usually match it up to the life-size pictures of fasteners they have in their catalog.
