71-72 OAI reproduction hoods

I searched, but did not see any recent threads, so...

Main question: What is the second best OAI hood?

I am pretty sure the Thornton is the best, but don't think I can bring myself to pay nearly 3 grand (I'm sure shipping is not cheap) for a hood! Any new developments on these in the last year or so?

I have a fiberglass OAI hood on the car now. I picked it up probably 20 years ago from a local guy, no idea who made it. Spent way too much having my body guy straighten it out, and it is still doesn't really fit the way I want it to (comes up short at the front of the car).

I'm about to have the car repainted, MANY years sooner than I wanted to, but that is another story... So, if I'm going to change the hood, now is the time!

Over the past 30 years I went through two cheaper OAI hoods and even, as you, tried to resurrect an original. The cheaper hods were worse than the hand-me-down original.

I'm having my car painted now and the painter said it would take about 40 hours for him to fix the resurrected original I have on the car.

That made the Thornton look more attractive.

I bought it and the shipping to the paint shop was only about $150. It shipped in about a week from somewhere in the Rust Belt.

The painter said it is perfect and he will have minimal work prepping it.

Just my experience, your results may vary as they say.
