68 442 convertable rear molding

Im in the process of installing the molding that runs along the rear of the vehicle around the convertable top, when installing the molding i notice near the quarter window there are holes to screw in the molding, but in the rear of the vehicle above the trunk lid i see holes in the molding where it seems a screw goes through but i do not notice a hole in the body the vehicle was in a bodyshop and im not sure if the holes were either patched or is there a special clip that is needed thanks for any help that is given

There are special clips that hold the entire molding in place. You can buy repro clips from Fusick - see www.fusick.com - the part number is D3645, convertible belt molding fastener. As I recall, the fasteners are held in place with a screw and then the belt molding snaps onto the fasteners.

Another "as I recall" issue is that there is actually accommodations for some 9, 10 or 11 of those fasteners. But, in during actual assembly, the assembly plants only used 5-6 of the fasteners to hold the belt molding in place.

There shouldn't be any screws that go through the top of the molding into the body.
