1950 76/88 hood opening is too small
My hood does not open very far at all. The springs hold it open but, even when I lift it as high as the hinges will allow, it is still a relatively small opening compared to the cars of the 60's and 70's that I had previously.
I feel that the hood is properly attached on my 1950 76 club coupe BUT it is a struggle to access the engine compartment. I have to duck my head and essentially lean on the fenders to work under that low-slung hood.
Is this normal? Is there any common solution that I could make that would allow that hood to raise into a higher "open" position?

Weak springs are common and bumps on the head are often with these old rides. When working on mine I usually use a prop stick to get a few extra inches higher and fewer bumps.. Unless the hood was installed some how differently and I can't imagine how and still have it work soon you will learn how to do the dip slide straddle hop as a reflex.... Tedd
