394 crankshaft pulley bolt removal?
Hi there,
Does anyone know if there is a special tool to lock down the crankshaft so you can remove the pulley bolt? What is the correct procedure, as mine is stuck solid.
Some people say use an impact wrench then a hub puller???

An impact should work. A couple times I had to put a brake over bar on it and bumped the starter. You will need a harmonic balancer puller. Don't use any kind of slide hammer tool, you could pull the threads out.

To get the bolt on the crank snout tight or loose you can get nylon rope and feed it into a cylinder on the compression stroke. Then move the engine over with a wrench and compress the nylon rope against the head. This will prevent the engine from moving. You can then use a breaker bar to break it loose or a torque wrench to tighten it.
