Why? (Cam thread)

Why can't you run stock springs and rockers with this cam?

My buddy had one of these laying on the shelf, so I slipped it into an old block to check it out. I held the pushrods and spun them while tightening the rockers down and the pushrods don't spin once tightened. I don't see why this cam would require screw in studs and double sprung springs like they say.

Less lift and duration than many stock Olds cams. Olds valvetrain will work just fine.

The advertising is probably geared toward the novices who are educated by car magazines, the Internet, and car shows.

Just as I suspected.
The second opinion is parallel to my own.

I would recommend new valve springs that are intended for the cam. Machined split locks would be a good idea, too (for any cam, especially with more valve spring tension).
