Crate motors 394.

Crate motors 394.
Might be jumping the gun, but just in case my 394 is cactus, can anyone recommend a reputable crate engine specialists that exports to Australia.
Not after racing motor, just fairly stock, maybe a towing cam.
Found Performance Unlimited but they seem to be a little expensive.
In case I can find someone is Australia to build a 394, what are some things I should check that they do correct?
I will be checking the heat chock tube.

There is no such thing as a crate 394. If you can find a reputable re-builder there, you will be better off. An Olds engine is not a Chevrolet and they need to have knowledge of Oldsmobile engines. It has been a long time since the 394 was built so be sure and do your homework.

"Crate motor" is unfortunately another term that's usually mis-used. Originally, the factories coined the term to refer to BRAND NEW motors sold through the factory parts network IN CRATES (hence the term). These used all brand new parts including brand new castings, and were essentially the same as the motors installed in new cars. Since then, any motor rebuilt by a shop and sold assembled is now (incorrectly) called a crate motor.
As noted, unless you can find an NOS factory 394 still in a crate in the back of a dealer's warehouse, the only thing you can buy are rebuilt 394s. These are rebuilt using old castings and forgings, remachined as you would for any engine rebuild. Even Jasper Engines claims to have them. Ross Racing Engines is one of the best providers of first gen Olds V8s.

I can remember back in the day (whenever that was) that Ford Motor Company used to sell FoMoCo rebuilt engines. I don't think they have done that for years. I guess they could have been a crate engine back then.

We ship worldwide....parts to completes....and have done extensive work and development with the 1949-64 engines.
There isnt anything we done have stock or speed.....
