fuel pump/lines

fuel pump/lines

hello everyone,

my 455 project engine rebuilt is done. everything is assembled back to its specs..just a mild build with mild cam to go with it. got a question regarding the fuel pump...i've got a holley 4150 model and i want to run braided lines for it....what would be a good fuel pump setup? any comments would be appreciated....

If you can give a little more information on your engine and what car it's in I could give you a better idea of the most economical fuel system for you.

it will be going into a 1968 442. a 1968 455 engine block with c heads. nothing fancy, cylinders were just honed, heads were cleaned and fitted with new seats...i installed a comp cam extreme energy and lifter kit along with a magnum rocker arms kit on the heads. holley is 82751 model #4150

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. So what I would do for your engine is run a stock fuel pump, unless you are dying to go to electric.

To make it look nice, get a 3/8" (or 5/16") to -6 AN fuel line adapter. Come off the stock fuel line with that adapter, it has a copper crush sleeve in it that crimps onto the steel fuel line and has a -6 AN fitting on the other end. Come off of that with a -6 AN straight fitting into -6 stainless hose. You can then trim the barb of your fuel pump just a hair (just get the "bump" off the end) and then use another crush adapter and -6 AN straight end.

For the carb, get a 1/2" inverted flare / -6 AN adapter to go in the fuel pump. A -6 AN straight fitting into -6 stainless hose and take it on up to the carburetor. Get a carburetor fuel inlet kit of your choice and hook it up to the other end of the hose coming off the fuel pump.

I hope this helps, at least it gives you an idea. If you have a local shop to get AN fittings from it is much easier, Summit or Jegs is impossible to find fittings on. It's nice to browse the wall of fittings.

Before you go, it always helps to take a picture of the area or draw what you want on a piece of paper and include labels like "3/8" steel fuel line" for each piece. Then see what they have to make it work.

What I gave you above is exactly what you will need to use the stock pump...but you can draw it out and see where everything goes that way. Hope this helps!

yeah, i had drawn it out while i was at work last...hopefully, time permits...i will have the engine in the car in 3 weeks. i will take pictures of the carb plumbing and post it here. thank you so much....
