Started w/ bare 455 block... What peices am I missing?
When I got my 455, it was already a stripped & cleaned bare block, Crank, and rods & Pistons. Missing all the little stuff- No tin & no plugs.
I expect to be getting it back from machining in the next month or three- & want to start assembling the shortblock.
What "little stuff" am i missing? I hate that i didn't get to take it apart- so i have no idea what is missing.
I know I need a oil filter adapter, timing cover, timing chain/gears, oil pump, driveshaft, pan... Just trying to figure out what else.
I ordered a freeze plug kit that comes iwth some of the galley plugs... should it come with everything i need?
What about stuff under the timing cover- Is there anything in there for the fuel pump arm to ride on, or other tin oil deflectors that i might be missing?
What about in the lifter valley? is there a small tin oil delector plate that goes over the lifters, or is that only on SBO (i've seen some pics)
Thanks-
Ben

What about stuff like the distributor, carb, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, oil fill tube/cap, starter, pulleys, alternator, power steering pump/hoses for starters. I don't know how stripped down your engine was when it went for machining.

I should have anything and everything to put a 455 back together. Just let me know. All those little things will add up quick picking them out of parts catalouges.
Many thanks for the reference Getawaycar.
It's projects like this that make me feel good for being too stubborn to get rid of all this olds stuff.

I'd like the brains to be 'experienced', the arms from 'gorillas', and oh maybe you could find some Saints or Apostles to extract the patience....

Correct me if i'm wrong, but all my pulleys and brackets from my 330 should bolt right up to the 455?
Manifolds or headers i have not decided yet.
I have a Edelbrock 455 Torquer intake & Holley 850 ready to use.
I'll be using roller rockers so i'll need aftermarket tall valve covers, so i'll get those later.
I have a toro pan & scraper setup, but I'm thinking i'll sell it and go with a milodon 7qt deep pan
From looking at that diagram appears i'm missing:
timing cover
oil filter adapter
crank or cam "eccentric" ???
cam bolt (unless a generic can be used??)
No name in that diagram, but the narrow peice of tin over the lifters in the valley
If one of you guys with the part-out motors wants to give me a quote for those peices, i'll likely pick em up. Just shoot me a PM
Thanks!

Timing cover $25
Oil filter adapter $15
Eccentric&bolt $15
Lifter tin $10
Shipping $15?
How does $75 shipped for everything sound? Let me know, and I'll box them up asap for you.

The cam button you can get from rocket racing or mondello and it will have a brass bushing that is better than the stock bolt.

I took a look, my alternator bracket is the old style that goes to the intake, and not over the valve covers... but my PS bracket does go over the cover, but i think i can trim it to clear.
I'll worry about that when i get there.
J- you've got a PM
