Will this help the plugs are new to the build again car has not been drove since rebuild on in the back yard I feel like a complete dumb ***. Oh yeah the car is a project with limited funds so it has no license plates so it just sits in it's spot in the shop until funds are available.

Why .040?
I got real bad mileage/performance unless mine were gapped @ .032, even with HEI!

i am very guilty of this same thing. i get new plugs and put them in. i look at them and as long as they don't look like they were dropped and bent i just put them in. not likely the correct thing to do but back when i was a teen i always checked them and never seen one that was wrong out of the box.

Did you ever get all the issues corrected from your build?

Finally got it running right no black smoke, plugs burning right no dancing engine under the hood. And I finnally took the chance on taking it out on the road with out getting pulled over for no license plates. That dame BBO sure does have some raw power. I out a little seafoam in the gas and oil to clear out the rest of the excess gas in the valves and etc. All I have to say is it doesn't take much for a BBO to turn some tires
