495 Stroker BB

Not sure if I should put this here or in the High performance section as it's going in a '55 Holiday Coupe. Pretty Cool.

Eagle/Mahle Stroker kit, .060 over
Edelbrock heads, out of the box
10.0:1
RPM intake, center divider cut 1.5"
QF/Brawler 850 Carb
Pertronix Billet dist
Custom Lunati Hyd roller
Canton Pan and HV pump
J&S Halo
Cloyes Billet timing set
Comp Cams 1632-16 Rockers
5/16 Restricted pushrods

Thanks.

Didn't think out of the box edelbrocks could support that kind of displacement or H.P.

There are other ways to make horsepower besides just improving airflow.

Why does this engine drop oil pressure as RPM goes up?

OK so it dropped 3 pounds from the start, and then stayed at 67 for the duration. If you want to say it dropped then fine.
No matter what I do you’ll try to find fault in it so I will no longer be answering any of your questions moving forward, on any post, at any time. Thank you.

Just curious what causes the oil pressure drop. On a good note not one of my 496s ever had 660 TQ @ 3500 RPM, nice work.

Are you guys looking for a dick measuring contest?.
I've been seeing you 2 go back and forth for 3 years.
Just come off it already.....
It's like oh, I banged a broad at see level and it took 1 minute...then oh well I banged the same broad at the same weight and we went up skiing in the Rockies, my dick shrank and her **** got looser... but that's not the case, my dick didn't shrink because I was in Texas last week and the humidity got to the wrinkles and I'm fine now. The girl is ok now, now let's talk at the walfull house and get a custard pie. Ahhhhhh noooo.....a custard pie...you talk that **** on me on another forum and ****....ohhh..naw...you paint a engine before heating it up?... I bet you both do😂

Another great build. Thanks for the specs. I sure would like to see some pictures and info on the 55 after it gets installed.

The lobes are from two different lobe families that I’ve never used together before. Seemed to work pretty well huh😉

Mark, what was the actual lift on that cam? Doesn't sound all that big, but made some impressive numbers!

Near .600 on the intake and .580ish on the exhaust iirc.

good work mark!

what would be the (max.) healthy HP/TQ rating on that rotating assembly and .60 over, with the edelbrocks modified accordingly?

Impressive, congratulations.
Do you think a larger carb would have extended the top end to higher rpms?

Yes my first choice would’ve been a true 950 but it actually did better than I thought it would with this carb.

Wgen you get over 600 it’s time to do more for strength.

My first post- I stroked and dyno'd my first motor build today

Hi everyone. I like reading the posts. Today I dyno'd my engine. I put the eagle stroker kit in it for the 495 cubes. Dyno sheet attached. I'm happy.

Cutlass efi you are a legend on this site.

Well I did the 495 stroker kit as you know
- Intake is the edelbrock aluminum air gap
- heads are the edelbrock 65015 rpm performer
- hydraulic roller cam. Specifically the howards 4/7 swap with 233 duration int/exh @ 050 lift, lobe separation is 110 degrees. Advertised duration is 286
- i went with 1.625 rocker arms instead of the 1.6
- American racing long tube headers to 3" exhaust
- the dyno used a 750cfm carb but I am actually rocking the sniper efi with the hyperspace distributor....the dyno guy was ademant that this would add 20hp since he didn't really spend too much time tuning today with the carb...the main point of dyno was to check the block for leaks.

What else do you want to know?
It's got a rocking sound system and some cool copy cat factory chrome wheels but they are 17x9's on the back and 17x8's up front.
Its a fun toy I also did electric cut outs on the exhaust.

The headers were sent for ceramic coatings today after the dyno run. My car is in the backround.

This was the old 455 I had in the car. I sold it with everything included, distributor, intake, carburator etc and used the fund towards to new motor.

I’m not sure about that but thank you very much!
I was going to mention your air/fuels were all over the place. That hurt you as well as only having a 750. The carb I used was actually an 880 and I wish I had a 950, it would’ve made even more power.
The carb and cam limited your hp for sure but the tq is very respectable, nice job. Should be lots of fun!!!!
