Heater Box - Should I leave alone?
While I’ve got the motor out I’m getting ready to detail the engine compartment. It is an AC car but most of the AC system are not installed and probably won’t be anytime soon. Heater box (not sure of name) looks pretty sad. Nice and easy to access with motor out. Wondering if I will regret not doing anything about it now. Heat works but with a hole that big it might just be the heat from my headers! If I add one more thing to my list right now I will have to move my threads to the major projects and builds section.

i bet if you call vintage air you could buy the delete plate now. Keep in mind once you install the delete plate, you lose the heater also.

Thanks Matt that’s what I needed to know. I was hoping to use a delete plate and get it ready for vintage air in the future. Didn’t know that meant losing the heater though. That’s a pretty big step for us guys that live at 7000 feet.

Here’s a potential other option. According to the description I can install this cover and retain heat/defrost.

I ended up getting the firewall plates instead of the AC delete cover, so now I need to figure out how to remove the heater core and the enclosure which protrudes into the engine compartment in order to mount the plate flat against the firewall. Is this a straight-forward endeavor? I'm tempted to order the actual cover since it won't require removal of anything from under the dash but if I can use the plates I already have that would be better.
