Oil Fill Tube Numbers?

What stamped numbers should I have in my 70 455 w30 fill tube? Ive seen quite a few variants and some of the new tubes have no numbers. What should I have?

For a '70 model year, the first number should be a zero. The six digits would represent the engine number.

Engine sequence number totally different from V.I.N. number right? This number won't match up to anything correct?

When you say the engine number, what does that mean exactly? I assume not the vin. What engine number should be on there?

Any idea where the numbers fell month wise? Or the range of numbers from beginning to the end of the 70 model year?

What 11971four4two said. The engine number has no relationship to the VIN. I don't have any idea of where the engine numbers fell month-wise. And I don't know if it has any relationship, but the number on my '68 (first week of April '68 build) is 8429570 and the number on my '69 (third week of May '69 build) is 9564351. Hopefully, people with '70 model year cars will chime in. If you provide the build date of your car, that might help. I don't know if the engine sequence number is in disregard to engine size (350 of different horsepowers, 455 of the different horsepowers, W30 455) or if each engine size is sequenced separately.

My 1970 Vista L-31 (455, 4-bbl) built in Lansing about Jan 07 has number 0302134.

Seems like a very low number for an engine that was standard on every 98, but the tube had matching factory blue paint when I bought the car 36 years ago from people who were definitely non-car enthusiasts (suburban family that used it as a tow vehicle for their boat and to go to the shopping mall).

Long way of saying that it is very likely that the tube was original.

my 70 442 build date Jan 26th has a
tube number of 0339917 sounds you're right on with the tube sequence number.
