Pushrod length

Putting in a new cam and lifters and was told I can keep my stock non-adjustable valve train. Going through the pushrods, several have pits(some severe) and I want to replace them. What is the stock/standard size for a '68 G-block 400? I've seen several lengths listed as "stock" or
"OEM".

Thanks.

If you have the valve train apart enough to see the pitting on your factory pushrods you should be able to measure them. You should install your new cam and lifters and see if they give you the proper amount of lifter preload before ordering new ones.

A said there is a good chance you will need longer or possibly shorter pushrods. You want a slight amount of lifter preload when rockers are bolted down and both valves are closed. Too little or no preload and your rockers will be noisy.

^^^THIS!. Is the new cam a stock replacement or not? If not, does it have a reduced base circle? If so, that will require pushrods longer than stock to maintain the correct valvetrain geometry and lifter preload.
