They’re just like any other engine, depends on the combination of compression, heads, cam, intake etc.

thanks, I thought maybe due to its squareness the engine might lean to one more. But thanks for letting me know

What about parts that work. Like I heard BBC pistons and sbf 302 rockers will work? Is this true, if so what other internal could be used in the 425.

What hei, exsaust manifolds, intake and cam, are used a lot.

I guessing I should look for a 750 or 800 qJet

So are you going power adder or stock? You've mentioned both ways, I'm confused.

Stock block will take 600 or so. That’s not the issue.

I renamed the thread for the sake of not having so many threads open. I will direct all my question on this one. Hopefully together with your experience and my muscle I can get this 425 running and ready to go in my 63 Lesabre wagon(pictured).

so i acquired this engine specifically for the wagon. Engine has B heads, said to be from 1966. In rebuilt condition, supposedly. No carb or much accessories.

it came with a th400 from the same year.

i put it on the stand and pulled the valve covers on was dry and the other had some oil pooled in the corner. Next i will pull the intake to look at the valley, then the pan and rotate it.
pictures to come

If you’re really thinking about going to the next level, I’d use the new Mahle piston as well as the Scat 7.00” H-beam rod and some main studs. Then go from there.

Make sure of the year and what that motor came out of. 425s, for the three years they were made, had different cam bank angles and lifter bore combinations.
