So I’ve read quite a few different methods of doing this. EOIC, etc. But my question to those who’ve done this is what is the simplest way of doing this procedure? Meaning the least revolutions of the crank and cam.

I’ll add that the guide plates aren’t adjusted yet, so I’d like to add that adjustment into the work flow. I know we shoot to adjust when the lifter is on the base circle. So my question is what’s the most efficient way of getting there.

Im working with flat tappet lifters (dry, not pumped up), 7/16” stud with polylocks, 1.65 stainless roller rockers.

I am getting the right rocker geometry with 2.8 turns of the polylock. .050” per turn with 7/16” studs. Lifter preload is right around .030”

If you take the engine firing order and split it in half and arrange them to look like this

you will be able to figure out companion cylinders. Set #1 at TDC, you can adjust the valves on cylinder 1 and 6. Rotate the engine in the normal direction exactly 90*, set the valves on 8 and 5. Rotate another 90, set 4 and 7, another 90 and 3 and 2. You just set the valves with one turn of the engine. This is probably the easiest/fastest method. It helps to have a degrees balancer
