Fuel Pump: Does it take an "L" fitting? 67 400 HELP NEEDED
putting stock fuel pump on a stock/original block and manifold 67 442 (400).
Got new 'correct' fuel line and stock AC Delco fuel pump from Fusick. checked numbers on both, and they match what I ordered and I ordered the correct numbers from catalog for 67 400/V8.
There is no way the fuel line is going to fit to fuel pump.
a.) the fitting on line is too big for pump fitting. (and too big carb inlet fitting)
b.) the 'angle' of line is wrong. It is 'straight', and fitting on pump comes out of pump at 90, so the line would go right into the fan belt or radiator or whatever.
The only thing I can figure is that there is supposed to be an extra 'L' fitting on the pump so the line can go 'down' into the fitting at the pump.
Let me know if anyone has a stock set up (pictures) they could share.
As they say... "something ain't right.....".
Also the fitting at the carb is wrong as well on the line. On that, the 'rebuilt' carb I just bought may have the wrong size inlet fitting on it, but it also is too small for the line fitting. The carb is correct dated, but the fitting just isn't right. Do they sell different size inlets for Qjets?
Any help? Thanks for any suggestion/direction/pictures.

there is a 90 degree elbow that is between the pump and the line. i do not have a picture of it. i happen to have one of them if you need it. give me your address and i will mail it out. it is off a 67 442 4 speed. i think it would be the same on an automatic. i will try it get you a picture of it.

Thanks!
I sent you PM/email.
It appears the pump is 1/2-20 and the line is 5/8-18. I assume the pump (and the carb fitting) were for 5/16" line, but "I'm no expert"....
I found the fitting in Summit for carb fitting which is 7/8-20 on the carb and 5/8-18 on the fuel line, which should work.
Thanks again!

Most auto parts stores have bins of those fittings. I would start there, since mailing fittings back and forth to Summit when you get the wrong one will get old in a hurry.

Thanks for suggestion. The one I was considering getting from Summit is the carb inlet fitting.
I'd been to three parts houses this morning, and no one had anything, looking for the one for the fuel pump.
I think I've got one from an olds pump lined up from another forum member, but I'd still need the right size inlet on the carb.
Thanks again, and I responded separately in email on the carburetor number/body issue.
