Ga heads will have factory induction-hardened seats. Either could have come with big or small valves. For a car that's not a daily driver, I'd get the set with the bigger valves first and worry about the hardened seats second.

I have a pair of Oldsmobile "A" cylinder heads. Are they worth anything? Also... Mr. Padavano. What do you do for a living? It's almost like you designed for Oldsmobile. You know about all there is to know about them. More than I know about everything else:-)

Thanks for the kind words. I'm an aerospace engineer, but I've been collecting and building Oldsmobiles for over 35 years now. It's scary to think that my first car, a 1968 Vista Cruiser, was only six years old when I got it. My newest vehicle today is ten years old.

There are two things I like about the A heads. First, there are no A.I.R. bumps in the exhaust ports. Second, they are already tapped for 3/8" studs, so roller rockers are fairly easy.

well ill give you the whole run down of my story.
got into cars just over a year ago, after looking at a bunch of fords(shame on me), chevys, and pontiacs, i fell inlove with this 68 cutlass. not doing my research i bought it.
checked the casting numbers on the block and heads, i found out i have a 77 350rocket with smogger heads. so im going to be buying a 455(1968-1972), with some good flowing heads.
sure i could build up the bottom end of the 350 and put some nice bb edelbrock heads, but why not go 455
