Stock intake mods for FiTech

If you were to have a machine shop modify your intake to match a square bore, would the FiTech fit without an adapter? Seems like FiTech has four holes in its base like the plate I used in this picture. If so it would put the height of the FiTech close to stock for the OAI hood. Please advise.

If you need to use an adapter to fit a FiTech unit on your stock intake have you considered an aftermarket intake? Perhaps the Edelbrock Performer would fit underneath an OAI hood. I'm sure there are others that can confirm this.

Already bought the parts place reproduction w-30 intake so I was seeing if modifying it was an option because it would look closer to stock. The FiTech would hopefully be mostly hidden under the air cleaner.

Edelbrock Performer is about an inch taller than stock if not more

So, question is can the parts inside that square bore spacer in the photo be removed on an aluminum repop W-30 intake without causing issues like flow or other? Would use the spacer 1/8 inch thick between FiTech and intake after cutting.

That's a bummer.

I've heard some of the Edelbrock intakes are pretty close to stock.

FiTech Manual

It says in the FiTech manual:
"To fit on a spread bore 4-BBL manifold
will require an inexpensive adapater plate to avoid leaks.
Note that the FiTech throttle body will bolt directly to a
spread bore 4-BBL manifold but may leak without the
adapter plate. Suitable adapter plates are available from
several suppliers such as Summit Racing (SUM-G1420)."
So I would say that you either change the manifold to one that has a opening for the Holley 4150 series or use an adapter. They aren't that tall and don't change the flow very much, if any. I use one on my Torker intake, it's about 3/4" tall.

If you plan to machine the stock spreadbore intake to clear the primary throttle plates on the FITech, then all you will need to ensure sealing is a thin plate like this.

A member here tried that spacer without machining and it did not work. He had to use a taller spacer.

i will do the spacer like Joe said after machining.

The thin plate won't work if you don't cut the manifold to open up the primary bores. Once you do that, the plate will ensure the square bore TB seals against the large Qjet secondary bores.
