Hi have a quick question. Should I use a gasket sealer on my oil pan gasket when time to reinstall oil pan gasket. If it matters on a 371 motor. Rubber ends and cork sides. Thank you

I would use Permatex, on the cork.

PLEASE use ultra grey. Or similar. Several companies make similar or just buy permatex ultra grey. NEVER use permatex regular blue. Designed to break off and clog oil pump pickups.

May I suggest this Robert Dana video. He offers advice on how to close an oil pan to avoid leaks. In this video he is using a 400 engine, but you should still find it a great visual.

Thank you. It was helpful but I see he did the gasket on the block I will need to do it on the pan as the engine will be in the car if that is possible. What will I need to remove to get access to the oil pan to drop it.
