425 build

Hi I got a 425 with no heads. But I have a set of E heads will they work? Does anything need to be done to them? Should I look for A or B heads?

The E heads will bolt up as all Olds heads (BBO and SBO) have the same bolt pattern. Do you know if your 425 is a 45º block or a 39º block? It may make a difference for push rod clearance (the E heads are from a 39º block).

Set one E head on your engine and if the lifter hole lines up with the push rod hole your good to use. But if they are off you must grind some metal off the bottom of push rod hole in your heads to work.

A beveled drill bit works fine.
