I HAVE SOME QUESTION ABOUT THE 455 HP RATINGS.
FROM THE FACTORY WHAT WAS THE HIGHEST HP?
WHAT ABOUT A SMALLER{425), LIMITED PRODUCTION ENGINE?

I think the highest was about 345 around 1969. You have to realize though that horsepower ratings were not, and still are not, consistent. The ratings are not measured the same way by all manufacturers, and the findings were "massaged" a little up or down to attain a desired objective anyway. The factory horsepower ratings mean very little to most people except as statistics on paper. You might try the 442.com faq section, I think they have a comprehensive listing.

Hey guys
The highest HP rating for the 455 was 400. This engine was only used in 1969 and 1970 in the Toronado. There was a 390HP used in the HO and some Delta 88 Royal Coupes. The 375HP unit was used as the standard engine in the Toronado. The 365HP engine was the standard engine for the Ninety Eight and optional on the 88's. The 300/310HP 2BBl engine was used in the 88's. This was only true until 1970. In 1971 the rating system was changed from SAE Gross to SAE Net. Other changes also reduced the engine advertised ratings.

The 425CID engine was introduced in 1965and used until 1967. In 1965 it used the old Rochester 4Jet carb on the 4bbl engines. The 2 bbl engine was rated at 300HP with the Low Compression "Regular Fuel" Option and 310 with the High Compression "Premium Fuel" option. The 4bbl engine was rated at 360HP in the Ninety Eight (optional on the 88's) and 370HP on the Starfire and Jetstar I (Optional on the Ninety Eight and 88's). In 1966 a change in Carb on the 4bbl engine introduced the QuadraJet. The 2bbl engines where rated the same. The 4bbl engines increased 5 HP to 365HP for the Ninety Eight and 375 for the Starfire (the Jetstar I died in '65) and the new Toronado had an exclusive 385HP engine. The 1966 and 1967 engine ratings are the same except the Starfire engine became the optional engine on all but the Toronado when the Starfire died in ’66.

Keep in mind that there are two different engine blocks for the 425. The 300, 310 and 365 HP engines used a cam bank angle of 45 degrees and the 375 and 385 HP engines used a cam bank angle of 39 degrees (as did the 400CID 442 engine).

Got any more questions?
