Single to Duals 394 Same DS manifold?
The single exhaust crossover pipe in my 61 Olds is toast. I was thinking duals. Will I need a different manifold for the driverside? Mine currently dumps in the front. I can't remember what my 61 Starfire had on it . Thanks

I don't believe you can run dual exhaust on the early 60s 394 without a dual exhaust manifold for the driver's side. This manifold dumps to the rear where as the normal manifolds dump down (using the crossover to the passenger side). The problem is that the pitman arm is behind the center link and the steering gear box gets in the way of running true dual exhaust. I have heard of people putting dual exhaust on one of these cars without a dual exhaust manifold but I have never seen it done. I don't think there is enough room to get the exhaust pipe to the rear of the car without hitting the steering gear box or getting in the way of the center link.

NAS head back to the yard where you picked up your car and there are a couple of 64 starfires that should have the LH exhaust manifold, there is also a 63 98. If it is a custom sport coupe it should have duals. I have heard that they will fit early 394's and clear the steering box.

Thanks, thats what i thought. He should have one already off somewhere. I have a big list and will be heading up there soon. Theres no way I would even try to mount anything off the one thats on there.

61-2 used the same manifolds whether single or dual exhaust. The LH pipe snaked around everything and was only 2" OD iirc. The front of the right manifold had a cover plate instead of the crossover pipe. In 63-4, the dual exhaust manifold was different.
