Thermostat housing
Hello All,
It has been a while but I just replaced my thermostat on a 70 442 455, I believe I did everything correct but it is leaking by the by-pass hose. I cleaned it well stuck the new gasket on the housing put the thermostat in put the housing on and it is leaking were the by-pass tube is any suggestions
Thanks
Joe

First of all, what type of housing is it? Chrome aftermarket are known to be leak prone.
Did you use any gasket sealer? Depending upon how much it's leaking, it may be as simple as replacing the gasket and using a bit of sealer. If it's leaking more than just a bit, you may need to take the housing off and verify the sealing surface is flat with no pitting. If it's not planar or has pitting, maybe resurface it (planarize) with sandpaper on a flat plate.
