Replacement / Interchange help for 98 fuel tank
#1
Howdy everyone--
I JUST bought myself an 69 olds 98 ragtop, and I found out that the fuel tank is leaking at the seam. An outfit in town wants 500-600 dollars to fix it, but I want to see if it can be done cheaper. I'm looking for a new tank to replace the current one instead, and auto parts stores don't go that far back.
Any suggestions on finding either an all-purpose tank, or maybe finding an interchange tank from a closely-related model, like the '88 or maybe a BUick?
I also found something on JC Whitney's site about an all-purpose tank. If you have any thoughts on this, I'd like to hear them as well...

I know that different areas in the country have different prices for labor and such, but that seems awfully high to me for a repair. I had the tank on my Delta checked, boiled out and cleaned for about 60 bucks, if a repair was needed I think he said 150 tops. I would think you could buy a NEW tank for 500! Try Fusicks, I think they have a website. Good luck.
