Olffenhauser 360 intake 455

Looking for feedback on how well these perform on a street engine/stock heads mild cam. I purchased this one for $100.00 years ago. May put it & some other left over pieces on a budget build. Thanks.

Check out my post from a few months ago, I ended up just going with a performer manifold.

My intake is more like a dual plane. Not a 4 hole. It has both carb bolt pattern & a 1" cut into the divider. I will have to pix it to be clearer.

No casting date. Nothing for vacuum ports or bungs.

These Offy 360s are the goofiest intakes ever conceived. If the concept is so great, why has no one copied it in the last half a century (and the patent expired decades ago). Dividing the intake into two single plane intakes, each feeding one bank, is stupid unless you are running a flat plane crank.

K. Anyone put the intake(s) to a dyno & compare worst to best in the 455 Olds family? Real numbers in TQ &HP.

You realize that the answer will be different for each engine build, right? The cam and heads that make best power with a Performer won't be the same combo as the ones that make best power with a Torker or a Victor.

Really? A basic street build 455 and run the intakes. Measure the HP TQ of each intake. In this case dual planes only.

Feel free to build a motor and rent some dyno time.

Flee, I asked if some has, not if someone would wait on me.

WOT would only be one testing parameter. My bet is part throttle on that would be horrible. There’s literally no runner length and proportionally a huge plenum area.
Like Joe said, if it was so good why is it still so unique?

The real numbers by a dyno would be the definitive answer. .What makes what. For this intake and the others. Asking if this has been done before.

Wow this thread went sideways.

I have known boat people that loved these on their 455 boat motors. Also knew a great mechanic kid younger than me. He had one on a stock 455. Pulled the motor from a car. Rebuilt the carb and used that intake. That car ran like a some bitch.

Hundred bucks well spent. One Hundred dollars? You can buy a window crank for that now. Maybe.

Bingo. Wanna drive the modern boys nutty? Add a ancient W-30 grind to the build. Fresh stock 'E' heads. These are setting on the shelf.

I got $275 for mine on eBay last year, so $100 is a good deal no matter what. Seems like the popular opinion is that it stinks. I went with a Performer.

Yes, I scored a Eddy Performer used w/xtra parts/gaskets/hardware for just over $200 5 years back. It went on the present 455. Has a custom cut Clay Smith Hyd/Aluminum heads/hper pistons. Ordered roller tip rockers & they sent full rollers. Anyway the left over parts aren't selling, so its time to retro-in-de-ghetto build.
