Hose incontinence

Hose incontinence
I have lost all my sanity with this leak. The thermostat bypass hose has a slight leak where it attaches to the water pump. I end up with a fine coolant spray all over the air cleaner. It only leaks when the engine is under high load and not at idle. I can actually see it leaking when i rev the engine for a few minutes. I have changed hoses and clamps. I have used Stag gasket sealer and Black engine silastic, all to no avail. I have tried to file the neck where the hose attaches smooth to make a better seal but all for nothing.
Has anybody got some simple trick that will fix this problem.
I feel like Sylvester after another failed attempt at catching tweedy bird.

If the thermostat housings little pipe is kind of rusty or crusty, I would replace the t-stat housing. Chrome ones on ebay look nice but they leak between the stat and intake a little over time.
Are you sure that it is leaking where you think it is? Have you had someone rev the engine up while you look for where the engine is leaking coolant? It could be coming out from somewhere else.
If the nipples on the water pump are rusty or crusty replace it.
Good Luck

A clean smooth surface is what you need.
If you have that, and a good clamp, no sealer of any type is required. In fact, sealer on a hose has never been successful for me.
A dremel tool can sand and grind through rust and scale to make the nipple smooth.
If it is deformed, then the pump may need replacing.
Try a new chunk o' hose and a new clamp and place the clamp just below (almost touching) the barb on the nipple.
I have never had leaks from that area. Pull the hose and post a clear closeup picture of the nipple. Maybe we can see your problem.

Yep, it's leaky! But you already knew that...
Pull the hose after draining a gallon of coolant and let's see the nipple. (Did I just say that? )
Something is certainly wrong for it to keep leaking...

What does the steel nipple coming out of the water pump look like??---you never said.
Is it rusty, rough surfaced?? Smooth and clean??
Cut your hose back to a "clean section" or try another new bypass hose...no use in trying to re-tighten the same one. I've seen bypass hoses that seem to fit a bit loose (ie they slip on a bit too easily)....is this the case on yours?? (or the replacement hose if you get a new one).

I put on a new hose that i got from the parts place. Yes, it wasn't a very tight fit. It just slipped straight on.
I have put another hose clamp on and fastened it in a different position. Where it was leaking was just under the actual tightening screw, so i moved it to the opposite side. Lets see if this makes a difference. If it still leaks i will take the hose off and show you guys what my nipple looks like

After changing the hose clamp to opposite side and going for a short drive it seems that this has fixed the problem. I'll take it for a good long run tomorrow. Here's hoping that my nipple is fixed.
