holley street dominator or performer?

ok I have posted my engine build but basically a 455, 30 over, harlan 1.6, approx 9.5 compression ratio, 3.08 posi 4 speed, cam I am getting some advice on (sig erson), was going to use a performer, with a quadrajet but saw a holley street dominator on fleabay, the price is right ( for now) anybody have any history with these seems the rpm range is about what i am looking at ( idle to 5200) just thinking out loud.

I will go AGAINST the grain here-
performer is a step up from stock for power,
SD is a better manifold though, for a higher output engine IMHO.
I would wait for the performer rpm to come out, though.

I am waiting as well but that manifold is not the right one for his application, too tall of a gear and it won't develope enough hp and/or rpm to warrant a single plane imo.

Thanks fellas...

I will get the performer, maybe get the airgap? I would love to get an oldsmobile stock aluminum manifold but the price is a little steep for my blood....

You mean that the single plane will not allow him to smoulder the tires from a dead idle leave. Torque is not an issue with either manifold here, but you can never have too much of it.
For the gear, a performer is a good choice, it will have MORE torque at low rpm's, but will give up power above 3500 rpm.
It will be fun.

Jim I obviously agree with you to a great extent. However it doesn't have to be limited above 3500 with a dual plane. If you do a few things, cut the center divider and add some plenum volume via a spacer, it'll breath better past that no problem. Like this;

Ya know Jim, my biggest gripe with the Holley manifold is aesthetics.
It's just does not look as good.
Funny, eh?
