craigs list 455 block ?yay or nay?
Found this guy on craig list, Claims to have a olds 455 block, heads, exhaust manifolds, an old fule pump and some valve covers for 150$ He seems like a cool guy and said he planed to rebuild the whole thing and put it in his '68 olds but the car was stolen and crashed before he even started
I gues the guys moving and has alot of engine parts..
tell me what you think of this block.. block is a 396021f 68-71 olds

Really just trying to find a block to build off of for my 70 cutlass, and if thats just some surface rust and theres no cracks like im told i want it!

With all of the rust you're taking a chance with that stuff. Personally I'd chance it for $50 and no more. There are just way too many question marks with that stuff and it needs to be checked out at a machine shop to be sure there are no issues with it.

There is a complete one in Santa Maria on CL for 950 have you tried to work with him?

That block is going to be over a grand in machine work easy just from looking at the rust. Factor in new parts which aren't cheap it's going to keep racking up. I'd fing a more complete one or a short block that looks better. That ad has been up for a couple of months now he may be ready to haggle.
