With all of the rust you're taking a chance with that stuff. Personally I'd chance it for $50 and no more. There are just way too many question marks with that stuff and it needs to be checked out at a machine shop to be sure there are no issues with it.

If you're buying it as a core with the intent to completely rebuild the motor, it's probably worth $100. Depends on which heads those are, but from the photos they appear to be big valves.

There is a complete one in Santa Maria on CL for 950 have you tried to work with him?

That block is going to be over a grand in machine work easy just from looking at the rust. Factor in new parts which aren't cheap it's going to keep racking up. I'd fing a more complete one or a short block that looks better. That ad has been up for a couple of months now he may be ready to haggle.

i bought the block, it seems to be in pretty good shape no visible cracks or anything.. the rust truly was surface rust the only thing is the pistons are still inside of it which scares me to death but i talked the guy down to 80$ and felt it was atleast worth a shot ill post pictures when i can.. fingers crossed!

You CA and TX guys are a bit spoiled.

That's "no rust" in MI

I've saved a lot worse than that
