Alternator Shield

I bought a heat shield that goes between the exhaust pipe and the starter from Fusick's. This for my 71 442. This shield is a heavy metal piece maybe 4 inches by 6 inches with 2 bolt holes in it. I cannot see where there is any place to bolt this to. The description in their catalog says it bolts to the starter and to the frame. Anyone out there familiar with this? Would a heat cover that goes over the starter solenoid (spl?) work just as well?
Thanks

The eighties Regency's had a factory heat shield that covered the solenoid and part of the starter and bolted in the same holes as the starter brace...the starter should have a 5/16 hole in the side for the bottom bolt... sorry, NPN..
